-to cultivate the culture of healthy way of life and taking care of their health.

The procedure.
I. Introduction
T: Hello, children! Glad to see you here in the English room.
How is your mother?
Ps: She's fine, thank you.
T: How is your father?
Ps: He's fine, thank you.
T: How is your sister?
Ps: She's fine, thank you.
T: How is your brother?
Ps: He's fine, thank you.
T: How are you?
Ps: I'm fine, too. Thank you.
II. Announcing the topic and aims of the lesson.
T: I'm glad to here that you are well. And today we're going to talk about taking care of our health, about some problems of the body and ways of improving the situation and discuss medical care of the past. For the lesson you'll need some pictures and copies which are on your desks.
III. The main body of the lesson.
1. Warming up.
T: First of all, let's remember the motto of our lesson:
P: Every day in every way I'm doing better and better.
T: Our body and our mind must work at their best to help up to do better and better. As far as I know the Romans spoke of health in a proverb, "A healthy mind is in a healthy body". So, what another proverbs about health do you know?
PI: Live every day of your life as though you expect to live forever.
P2: An apple a day keeps a doctor away.
P3: Live not to eat, but eat to live.
P4: Early to bed and early to rise makes a man wealthy, healthy and wise.
P5: Prevention is better than cure.
P6: Health is better than wealth.
P7: A man is old as he feels and a woman is old as she looks.
P8: You'll soon be O.K. for your wedding day.
P9: Healthy is not valued till sickness comes.
P10: One's man's meat is another man's poison.
P11: Eat with pleasure, drink with measure.
2. Brainstorming.
T: We should think about our health before we get ill, we should take care of our health from the early age.
So, now form the group of fours and make a list of things people should do or shouldn't do to keep fit (stay healthy). ( HO 1)
T: Let's check up the results.
3. Practicing the vocabulary.
T: You understand that to stay healthy you should follow the healthy way of life. But sometimes people have some problems with health.
1) Look at the pictures of people with some health problems. Say what the matter is with them.
PI: She's got a headache.
P2: He's got a backache.
P3: He's got a stomachache.
P4: He' got sore muscles.
P5: He's got cold in the head.
P6: He has a flue.
P7: She's got a cough.
P8: She has insomnia. (She suffers from insomnia.)
2) T: Where should these people go to?
P9: To the doctor, to the hospital.
T: When you fall ill we visit a doctor. What words do we usually use while talking to a doctor?
You'll get cards with parts of the phrases. Find the pairs. (HO2)
4. Checking up the homework. Role play: At the doctor.
T: So, this is the time to check up your homework. You are to make up and act the
dialogues “At the doctor”.

5. Physical exercise.

6. Developing listening skills
1) T: You are going to hear 6 dialogues. Use HO 3 to complete the table and say in what dialogue the doctor suggests:
-the operation;
-to take some tablets;
-to visit the gym;
-to have a good rest;
-to clear the ear out;
-to give up smoking.
2) T: Listen to the dialogues again and complete the sentences. (HO 4)
7. Reading.
T: It's very important to consult the doctor in time. But sometimes we can help ourselves without a doctor or give an advice to the ill people. Complete the sentences with the words of Exercise 2(a) page 100.
Answers: 1) eye drops;

5) an ointment;
6) a lotion;
7) a cough syrup;
